“Reflections”

These photographs are from a portfolio of very common and even mundane objects. I hope to create interest in such objects by looking at them through a “different set of eyes”. I visualize them through uneven transparent glass surfaces, or photograph their reflections from a variety of uneven surfaces. I use glass wall construction blocks, odd shaped Christmas Balls, mirror surfaces of reflectors, spoons, windows and just about any reflective or transparent surface which can create a new and interesting rendition of a common theme. My subjects are common household items, boring suburban streets, telephone poles, flowers etc. – subjects we encounter daily without giving them a second glance. To paraphrase Wm. Shakespeare’s Hamlet – “to hold as ’twere, the Mirror up to Nature” – I try to create an artistic experience and the sense of altered reality – by looking at very traditional objects in an untraditional way.
