Hybrid Spaces

As an artist, I explore thoughts of abstracting regular, public, interior spaces on canvas. The work created is meant to strongly disconnect from viewers and the people that visit those spaces on the regular. Displaying a public familiar location through my vision gives the chance of celebration or admiration for spaces that are hardly even noticed.

Supporting and separating public structures inspire me. When approaching the spaces, there has to be light, shadow, an initial interesting competition, overlap of planes, and an opportunity to photograph different perspectives. I record the different appealing spaces through a digital camera.

My goal is to recreate the spaces I photograph on canvas but manipulate the natural perspective while keeping the shadows and light true. I want my paintings to read and feel like a real space and connect the abstract realm with the realistic.
