This piece reflects my interest in the interaction between humans and the natural world. In our current society, we have attempted to impose our wills over nature. This bracelet places a single human, the wearer, in reversal of the current order by invoking structures, textures and colors reminiscent of the ocean. I Lay in the Tidal Pool calls upon seaweed, sand and barnacles to make the wearer into a castaway, someone who has washed up in a tidal pool, grateful that for the small mercy of dry land. In this way, the ocean has reclaimed the wearer.
