My work reflects my fundamental desire to understand human relations, and influence a re-examination of the potential for positive interaction, on an individual, local, and global/political level. I draw from the vocabulary I wish to subvert– the symbols on which I was raised, an iconography of pop culture, art, literature and history. Using symbols and icons to create allegorical narratives, I engage in an examination of the political and the personal. I employ humor, cognitive dissonance and the absurd to jar the viewer out of customary ways of thinking about politics, and to critique the power of the individual and the figurehead.
