Myth of the Masses

There are myths created by Mass Media. Gods, if you will, that change the way we perceive the world around us. They come to us as movie stars like the infamous blondes in Hitchcock’s films, or the shirtless teens of Twilight or the reinforcing of our status by drinking Starbucks. These myths seep into our consciousness and possess us.

Possession reaffirms the myths of the media and passes it down through generations. Mass Media mounts us much like a rider and his horse. This is how we travel through the network, physically linking ourselves to the sacred paths laid out by the myths of the media, and it is these paths that remain invisible to the traveler. Myth of the Masses gives us a glimpse into the ritualistic space that we participate in with the media.
